Characteristics:

Q. What is CCFL stands for?
A. It stands for Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.

 Q. What is CCFL?
A.
CCFL is a very mature lighting technology mainly used by the LCD industry to manufacture its back light for the LCD display unit. It was not used for general lighting until we successfully developed its high power CCFL technology.

 Q. Why CCFL has longer lifetime than CFL?
A. CCFL is working in the glow region of the discharge lamp's operating spectrum. It relies on high initial voltage to pull electrons from the electrode to create the plasma state inside the lamp. This operation will not damage the electrode and as long as the lamp current is controlled in ~5 ma, the electrode will have a very long lifetime and thus is the CCFL. The CFL relies on using high initial current to heat up its filament electrode to release initial electron to create the plasma state inside the lamp. The huge current will cause sputtering effect on the electrode and damage the electrode until there is no more electrode material left in the lamp. Every time the CFL is turned on, it will need huge current to heat up the electrode and reduce its life for a few hours.
